Many of you are familiar with the idea of getting your colors done for wearable clothing. If you are not or have not there was quite the thing going round in the 70’s and early 80’s of image consultants who would come to your house and for a fee tell you which colors were best for your skin and hair. Today I still hear women telling me – “Oh, I’m a spring” ( or fall or summer), “so I wear ___ tones” Your skin color changes over time; in hair color we recognize this as fade, most familiar to people who wear red hair color where within about six weeks we begin to see a difference in tone and brightness; in skin color it’s the same factors but we have seen more sun and wind and water than six weeks of hair color change will ever produce. Consider then that you should either have those colors redone for today’s face or really pay attention to whether those old tones have begun to look harsh or just not as bright and beautiful as twenty years ago. Some of the same color families will still be great colors for you but you may want to go a little softer, warmer or cooler than the previous color reading.
